5 Top RBs Through Week 3

5. Adrian Peterson- the running back has had an extra step on defenses all year, as AP is running the football very consistently and effectively as he has 236 yards. AP is the best running back of our generation in my opinion. At age 33, AP is just being AP.

4. Todd Gurley- No surprise here, Gurley ranks 4th with 255 yards and has been torturing defenses on the ground and through the air. Can’t imagine having the first pick and taking Bell over Gurley with the holdout situation going on in Pittsburg. The Rams have won each of their first 3 games by double-digits for the first time since 1999, when they won the Super Bowl.

3. Christian McCaffrey- A sleeper going into this season, McCaffrey has rushed for 271 yards in 3 games and has really given the Panthers an offense which can be hard for defenses to prepare for with a solid balance of the run and pass game, making the job a little easier for franchise quarterback Cam Newton.

Tied for First:

Ezekiel Elliott- Ever since Elliot’s 6-game suspension, the running back has been everything Cowboy’s fans could ask for and then some. Going in the first round of most fantasy drafts, Zeke consistently ruins Sundays for opposing fantasy football team owners as he has rushed for 274 yards.

Matt Breida- Breida is in his Sophomore campaign and tied in good company with 4 other elite backs. Obviously he is tied with Zeke for the most rushing yards through week 3. Probably the most surprising player on this list and one of the less known players on the list, Breida clearly worked extremely hard this offseason and has whopping numbers of 32 carries for 274 yards and 8.6 yards per carry but only one touchdown. Either way, he is obviously helping his team. If he was to keep the pace he is on, he would finish with 1,461 yards. Although he is doing so well, Head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke to media Monday and said the running back is questionable for the Chargers game after hyperextending his knee against the Chiefs. With Jimmy G tearing his ACL, when he is 100% and available to play he may even have to take on a bigger role in the offense for the 49ers to succeed.
